Following the shock news of Gregg Barker’s resignation earlier this month, Amber Judd was swiftly appointed as his replacement along with Matt Hancock also replacing Michael Fallon at the DECC.
Judd will pick up Barker’s portfolio compromising of the green deal, feed-in-tariff (solar) and renewable heat incentives, in addition to other areas including International climate change.
At the time of publishing this article, Judd has now been Minister at the DECC for 2 weeks. In the last few days, she may already have some controversy to deal with after closing applications – without any warning – for the Green Deal Home Improvement fund scheme due to a recent rise in applications.
Following public back lash, Judd has defended the decision by saying that the scheme had a budget which has now been met and consequently, no more applications can be considered
