With 30,000 visitors, Europe’s largest solar trade fair not only exceeded the organiser’s expectations, Hamburg-based Conergy AG says it can also look back on 2007 as its most successful Intersolar ever. “Thousands of visitors took the opportunity to look over a range of innovations on the company’s stand and the Conergy open-air site.” A company spokesman said. The European based solar energy company exhibited highlights from its complete portfolio in eight themed areas covering photovoltaics, solar thermal products and ambient heat to customers and prospects.
“All the products attracted unexpected high demand and the Group was able to post orders worth of more than € 50 million in photovoltaics, solar thermal products and heat pumps,” says Katrin Krohn, in charge of Conergy’s marketing in Germany. “In the area of ambient heat, the new air heat pump and the two enhanced brine/water pumps were the most popular. Among the solar thermal products, the high-performance collectors and the new universal mounting system were centre stage. In photovoltaics, customers honoured our end-to-end competence as technology leader in central inverters, mounting systems and solar modules. But the frontrunner in customer interest, however, was clearly our new high-performance Conergy PowerPlus solar module produced in Frankfurt (Oder).”
The 70-plus Conergy sales experts from 12 countries provided answers on all the innovations to over 1,000 new and prospective customers. With more than half of all customers from overseas, Conergy can confirm the trend toward greater internationalisation noted by the trade fair organisers.
As Conergy Sales Director Christian Langen remarks, “the Mediterranean region more than any other revealed its immense potential at Intersolar. New EU members Bulgaria, Slovenia and Romania, which recently introduced assistance measures, also expressed strong interest, especially in photovoltaics. We were also surprised how many potential customers came to us from the US.” The company believes that their successful showing at this year’s Intersolar illustrates that its long-term internationalisation strategy is paying off and that it has now aligned its business model with the needs of individual customer in the most promising growth regions. “It means that Conergy will generate 50% of its revenue outside Germany – a full year earlier than planned.” The company said.
The show also attracted potential applicants who were keen to jump on the fast moving German solar energy bandwagon. “The half dozen Conergy personnel advisors talked to almost 200 people wanting to join the company.” A company spokesman said, adding. “With the new orders and concrete product queries under its belt, Conergy says it will continue to target expansion of its 2,200-strong workforce.”
