Summary

Since 2021, we have been delivering Aftercare (O&M) Services for Dalkia UK, a leading energy services provider backed by EDF.

Our partnership began with a portfolio of NHS Ambulance Trust sites in the North West and has since expanded to include schools, hospitals, commercial offices, and innovation centres across the UK.

What started as routine operations and maintenance has evolved into a comprehensive Aftercare (O&M) programme, covering fault diagnostics, reactive repairs, repowering, inverter upgrades, and performance recommissioning.

Our long-term relationship with Dalkia is built on trust, technical expertise, and a shared commitment to long-term energy performance, compliance, and sustainability.

Challenge

Dalkia initially engaged us to deliver annual planned preventative maintenance (PPM) as part of their Aftercare (O&M) Services across nine NHS ambulance stations in the North West.

These sites operated 24/7 and were critical to emergency healthcare delivery, meaning all on-site works had to be carefully coordinated and completed with minimal disruption.

During inspections, our engineers identified a range of underlying technical issues affecting system reliability and compliance. These included recurring string faults, module degradation, and inverters that were non-compliant with the Accelerated Loss of Mains Change Programme (ALoMCP).

Detailed panel testing revealed insulation resistance values significantly below acceptable thresholds, with some readings as low as 25 mOhms per square metre. In addition, faults previously addressed had begun to reoccur, indicating wider system-level failure rather than isolated defects.

Dalkia required an Aftercare (O&M) solution that not only resolved immediate issues, but also improved long-term resilience, safety, and regulatory compliance across their solar PV estate.

Solution

Our team implemented a phased, proactive Aftercare (O&M) Services approach to support Dalkia’s portfolio. We expanded the maintenance regime from annual to twice-yearly visits, enabling seasonal performance comparison and early identification of degradation trends.

Our engineers delivered in-depth reporting, comprehensive string testing, replacement of non-compliant inverters, and targeted remedial works as faults emerged.

When it became clear that four of the nine ambulance station systems required more than minor corrective action, we developed and delivered a full repowering solution. This involved redesigning system layouts, replacing all legacy modules with modern high-efficiency panels, and fully recommissioning each upgraded site.

To improve portfolio-wide visibility, we installed metering across all nine sites, allowing Dalkia to track basic system performance.

As confidence in our Aftercare (O&M) Services grew, our remit expanded to include additional assets across multiple sectors. We now provide ongoing O&M and optimisation support for solar PV systems at schools, hospitals, commercial offices, and the National Automotive Innovation Centre at the University of Warwick.

Result

Our Aftercare (O&M) Services have significantly improved the reliability, compliance, and performance of Dalkia’s solar PV portfolio.

Across the repowered sites, energy output has been restored and unplanned downtime reduced. Inverter upgrades have ensured ALoMCP compliance, warranties have been protected through structured aftercare, and the risk of undetected faults has been minimised through regular inspections and metering.

The engagement has evolved into a long-term strategic partnership, with Dalkia now appointing us on additional projects nationwide.

By maintaining a flexible, responsive, and consultancy-led Aftercare (O&M) approach, we have helped Dalkia manage their renewable assets more effectively while supporting their wider sustainability objectives.

As Dalkia’s team noted:

The process was seamless, professional and strongly aligned with our company goal of creating a sustainable future. With EvoEnergy’s reliable systems and continued support, Dalkia Facilities’ clients have received exceptional, reliable energy generation for their facilities, while benefitting from reduced energy costs and a lower environmental impact.
