Furniture Box

Furniture box is a forward-thinking supplier of home and office furnishings. Their recent expansion into a new distribution warehouse presented the company with an opportunity to further boost their green credentials by installing a solar PV system on top of their roof.

Challenge

Reducing their impact on the environment is an embedded part of their business strategy. This can be seen in their numerous environmental schemes such as carbon offsetting, eco-friendly packaging, EV charging and furniture repurposing programs. This was yet another addition to their environmental strategy.

This project was awarded to us directly. The site was constructed by St Modwen, whom we had worked with previously, so EvoEnergy were already familiar with their style of buildings. To bring this project to fruition, we brought our knowledge of planning and grid applications to the table, working closely with the client to carve a renewable energy strategy for them.

Solution

St. Modwen creates buildings that are ‘solar ready’ for the client to move in. In order to complete this, our team needed to fit in with the electrical wiring and roof work being completed in time for their opening.

Our design team worked closely with Furniture Box and St. Modwen to establish a bespoke system at the correct size that was suitable for their needs. To integrate the new system with the building’s infrastructure, we modified the LV board, ensuring that it could handle the output from the PV system.

Results

Now the system is complete and operational, the landlord (St. Modwen) and the tenant (Furniture Box) have more certainty over their energy bills and have boosted their environmental credentials. The energy will be used throughout the building and in their EV chargers. In addition, the roof has the capacity for further solar PV expansion in the future should electrical demand arise.

Going forward, our maintenance team will monitor the system using an EMIG system to ensure optimal performance. This was all part of our 3-piece suite of services of design, install and maintain.

“We are currently conducting the largest move our business has ever made into a brand new 88,000 sq ft unit, and as you can imagine organising and arranging this has been extremely time consuming and stressful, however James and the team eliminated all stress when it came to solar installation. Evo could not have been more helpful throughout and made the whole experience seamless and easy. They went above and beyond on any queries and help required and I wish our other contractors working on site were the same!

I have nothing but praise for Evo- I’ll certainly be using them again going forward should we require solar panels and I’ll be sure to recommend your services to others in the industry! The service has been exceptional and thank you again for such an enjoyable project.”
