At 12 noon on Monday 7th July, a letter was hand delivered to 10 Downing Street with the backing and signatures of over 150 solar companies in the UK – including EvoEnergy – urging David Cameron to support Britain’s solar industry.
The letter was initiated by the Solar Trade Association (STA) and delivered at a time to coincide with the closure of the Department of Energy and Climate Change’s (DECC) proposal to remove Renewable Obligation support for solar farms over 5MW.
The signatories of the letter support the content outlining the benefits of developing solar across the UK within domestic, commercial and large scale – the current policy framework is hindering the installation and support of solar, despite the Government recently announcing their renewed support for commercial rooftop solar; proposals that have also brought controversy.
The STA, with the support of EvoEnergy and over 150 other solar companies, are now asking the Government to ‘properly address’ the barriers they have in place preventing the installation of solar pv on rooftops.
