About Mark Wakeford

STRATEGIC LEADERSHIP

Guiding EvoEnergy’s Vision for the Energy Transition

As Chairman, Mark provides strategic leadership rather than day-to-day operational management. His role is to support EvoEnergy’s long-term direction, advise the board and senior leadership team, and help the company identify opportunities for sustainable growth in a fast-changing energy market. This helps distinguish Mark’s role from operational leadership: he provides strategic direction, governance and sector influence, while enabling the management team to deliver the company’s commercial and technical objectives.

Strategy & Positioning

Supporting long-term business strategy and market positioning.

Governance & Oversight

Providing governance, board-level oversight and shareholder perspective.

Executive Advisory

Advising the executive leadership team on growth, risk, investment and commercial priorities.

Operations & Standards

Helping strengthen operational performance, project quality, health and safety and compliance.

Energy Infrastructure & Solutions

Supporting the development of multi-technology energy solutions across solar PV, battery storage, EV charging, HV/LV infrastructure and smart grid systems.

Industry Insight & Market Policy

Using wider industry insight to help EvoEnergy anticipate changes in policy, supply chain, skills, standards and client demand.

EXECUTIVE LEADERSHIP

Strategic Visionary & Board Stewardship

Mark’s career has been built across construction, engineering, infrastructure and renewable energy. Before and alongside his work at EvoEnergy, he has held senior leadership and board-level roles in construction sector businesses and industry bodies, giving him a broad view of the built environment and the role it must play in reducing carbon emissions and improving energy performance.

He is a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers and a Chartered Director, with additional executive education in artificial intelligence and business sustainability. His experience spans business leadership, governance, investment, operational improvement and strategic transformation, with a particular focus on how technical businesses scale safely, profitably and responsibly.

Mark is also active in several influential industry roles. He is Chairman of the National Federation of Builders, a Director and Strategy Director of the Global Solar Council, and has contributed to the UK Solar Taskforce, including work focused on skills, supply chain and sector growth. These roles support his ability to bring external insight back into EvoEnergy’s strategy and client offering.

AREAS OF EXPERTISE

Leading Infrastructure, Governance & Clean Energy Strategy

As Chairman of EvoEnergy, Mark Wakeford provides strategic leadership and governance, helping shape the company’s long-term direction and growth. He brings extensive experience across construction, infrastructure and renewable energy to support EvoEnergy’s position in the UK clean energy market.

LEADERSHIP PHILOSOPHY

Guided by Purpose, Accountability & Strategic Vision

Mark’s leadership philosophy is centred on long-term thinking, technical competence and responsible growth. He believes strong businesses are built by investing in people, sharing knowledge and creating the conditions for teams to make well-informed decisions. For EvoEnergy, this means combining commercial ambition with high standards of safety, quality, governance and client service.

He places particular importance on training and organisational culture, especially as the solar sector scales rapidly. In Mark’s view, the UK energy transition will only succeed if businesses have the skills, supply chains and leadership needed to deliver projects properly, not simply quickly.

“Good leadership is about creating clarity, building capability and making sure the business is strong enough to deliver what clients and the wider economy need. In solar, that means thinking beyond individual projects and helping build an industry that can scale with quality, resilience and trust.”

Measurable Impact & Industry Leadership

From building and leading businesses to representing the construction and solar sectors at the highest levels, Mark has developed a career focused on turning industry ambition into practical progress. His work has helped influence strategy, policy and the conditions needed for clean energy to scale.
