EvoEnergy are pleased to announce the completion of a 49.68 kWp solar PV array for property developer, Landsec, on their busy city centre shopping mall at Trinity Leeds. The project was started immediately after the completion of the 783 kWp system on Landsec’s White Rose Shopping Centre just 4 miles away, which now proudly stands as the UK’s largest PV installation on a shopping centre.
The PV array at Trinity consists of 184 solar panels and two SolarEdge inverters, enhancing the safety onsite. It was fitted to a flat roof section of the site using a ballasted mounting system that raised the panels 15 degrees to face south for maximum performance. The rows of panels were also spaced out to prevent self-shading.
The installation was completed with no disruption to the centre’s operation and provided no risk to guests attending the site on a daily basis.
It is expected that the array will contribute around 42 MWh of green energy to the shopping and leisure centre every year, reducing its carbon footprint by around 19 tonnes in the first year.
Trinity Leeds opened in 2013 and is now home to over 120 shops, restaurants and leisure facilities including a 4-screen cinema. With the property already boasting an ‘Excellent’ BREEAM rating, the new solar PV addition will further enhance its environmental credentials.
Landsec have taken the initiative to implement sustainable measures and targets across their portfolio, and the latest two PV installations in Leeds, project managed by Syzygy Renewables, are great examples of their intentions to create valued benefits for both their customers and the environment.
In 2014, EvoEnergy also worked with Landsec to deliver a 249 kWp system on their Gunwharf Quays shopping centre in Hampshire which contributes over 200 MWh to the annual electricity demand of the facility.
